Welcome
Martin Holland was born in 1965. He spent most of his childhood in Kent until moving to Surrey in the early 1990s.
He first became interested in photography in 1981 when visiting the Dicken's Festival, Rochester with a Kodak Instamatic camera, and upon seeing the results, thought he would venture into the SLR (single-lens reflex) market.
For about £45 he purchased a Praktica (he still owns a similar camera) and then began to build up a system of lenses, filters, tripod, etc., From there he went a little more 'up the ladder' and purchased an Olympus OM10 followed by a Canon T90 on his 21st birthday.
During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Martin took on a bit of a part-time paparazzi role by taking freelance photographs at the Ivor Novello Award ceremonies held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London. His photographs include images of Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Elton John and Annie Lennox. Some of these images appear on this website.
Since 2001 Martin has lived in West Cornwall.
He has used a Nikon digital camera, for the last 4 years, with a variety of lenses ranging from 10mm to 300mm. His main subjects are of local landscapes and abstract images although he also loves to travel. He has recently been to Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Europe. Although one of his favourite places is closer to home and where his ancestors originate – Scotland. He has recently taken another trip to Scotland, visiting Shetland, Orkney and other islands.
Finally, he would like to say that he hopes you will enjoy his work and should you have any questions, please contact him via martin.seawards@btinternet.com He would only be too pleased to hear from you.
